Chronic Headaches and Chiropractic

A headache is essentially your body’s way of communicating that something is wrong. People spend significant amounts of money to treat the symptoms of headaches but forget to seek out the underlying cause. Headaches become problematic when they affect normal life and limit activity. They can become chronic: tension headaches that feel like a tight band of pain behind the eyes, pounding pulsing in the center of your head and migraines which cause nausea, light sensitivity and debilitating pain.

Our first goal is to examine your situation and give you an accurate and thorough diagnosis. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I am trained to identify and treat headaches resulting from spinal misalignment, soft tissue damage, muscle tension and nerve irritation. When spinal bones are out of alignment, they can put pressure on the nerves in the associated area causing pain that can manifest itself as a headache. Chiropractic treatment involves gentle adjustment that can move the vertebrae back into alignment. When the body or mind is stressed, it causes undue tension that can strain the muscles and soft tissues of the back. We can help you train your body to relax and fight stress through physical exercise and stretching. Deep-tissue massage can delve beneath the surface to increase blood flow in a painful area, as well as promote relaxation.

If your pain is derived from a structural cause, chiropractic can benefit you immensely. We begin with a consultation and physical examination which tests your reflexes and flexibility and the health of your spine. We want this to be an interactive experience and we encourage you to be as detailed as possible regarding the pain: the more knowledge we have of your situation, the quicker we can start relieving your pain. Chronic headaches are not normal and there is no reason to live in the dark with your pain, going from treatment to treatment, medication to medication. Our goal is to get you a proper diagnosis.
